Non-idiot

Even if I can be an idiot about computer things, it's good to know that I wasn't an idiot about who I married.

He's a non-idiot. Especially about computer things.

Apparently everything I do on a computer ever is backed up. Dallin set that goodness up, and so was able to restore my lost pictures without much hardship.

Talk about true love.

Idiot.

Remember those incredibly cute Disneyland pictures I just put up?

And those also incredibly cute family pictures I put up a while ago?

Well, if you clicked on those links, you may have noticed...they're gone. (UPDATE: They WERE gone, but now, they're back. See follow-up post. Hooray!)

It's because I'm an idiot.

It's also because Blogger is an idiot. If that's possible.

So...for some reason, on my computer, it is SUPER INCREDIBLY MIND-NUMBINGLY INSANELY YOU-WOULDN'T-BELIEVE-IT-LY HORRIFICALLY difficult to post pictures on my blog via Blogger. I'll put the cursor where I want the picture to go, upload the picture, and the picture will always always always load to the top of the post. No matter what. I've Googled quite a bit to find a solution to this, and while I've found many people with the same problem, I've never found the solution.

SO if I upload my pictures to Blogger, I have to drag and drop them through my entire post to get them to the right place in my post. It. Is. Annoying. Especially since I tend to be...oh, you know, tending to utilize prolific phrases in order to effectively communicate whatever it is that I happen to be wanting to say...AKA "wordy." So I have to drag my pictures through all this text, and for some reason, dragging doesn't make the text box automatically scroll, so I have to drag it down as far as I can, let go, scroll down, and repeat.

Oh. My. Kill me.

SO when I have multiple pictures to include in a post, I use Wordpress. They go right where they're supposed to, thank you very much. I just write my entire post on my mom/sister's Wordpress headbands site, and then copy/paste the whole thing into Blogger. Not ideal, but so much better than the drag and drop.

And then, today, I was an idiot.

I was updating said headbands site when I noticed all those extra pictures hanging around in the media folder. I was like, "Oh, those are taking up space. I should get rid of those since my posts are already published." As I look back now, I hang my head in shame. Deleting those pictures from the site from whence they came will also delete them from the site to whence they went! (No, I'm not sure if you can say that like that.) So obviously, when I clicked on over to my blog today, no pictures. Slapping of the forehead ensued.

So, my pictures are gone. Indefinitely. I think (hope) I just need to re-upload them to that Wordpress dashboard.

Sigh. Because I have time to do that.

Speaking of spending time appropriately, I am supposed to be doing homework right now while Dallin watches the baby for me. Um...awesome.

Maybe I'll get it all done and then delete that too.

**p.s. If any of you have/had similar problems with uploading pictures to Blogger and know how to fix it...um...TELL ME. That would make you one of my favorites. Which would be sweet, trust me.

Maddy Meets Disney

Madelyn's first trip to Disneyland was the start of a beautiful relationship, I'm sure.

In case you live under a rock, I love Disneyland. Mucho. It is just a place of happiness. Happy happiness. Which is the best kind of happiness. Call me silly or childish or trite or whatever, but Disneyland totally rocks in my book.

So, without further ado, here is a bum-load of pictures from our Disneyland trip. Try to not completely eat your heart out because of all the cuteness that is my child.

First time in the park. She was sleeping but we had to get a picture of the momentous-ness (duh):

Waiting in line for her first ride: Pirates!

In line for the Haunted Mansion, aka the Nap Ride:

One of the smartest things about Disneyland: they have stationary ride cars for picture taking. Genius.

Uncle Kyle had to try on the sunglasses of stylish-ness:

Mom/Grandma got chosen to participate in the show. She made a great bank teller

See? Stationary teacups too. We didn't actually go on the teacups with Maddy...I didn't want to take any chances.

Seahorse even got to come to Disneyland!

The closest she got to Soarin Over California:

I love her face in this one with my little sis:

I got a sweet baby carrier that she liked to be carried in. She fell asleep more than once in that thing.

Her face in this one says to me: "Holy crap I've got to get off this thing!"

I love this one. It's on the Casey Jr. train

In front of the castle! Classic D-Land pic.

Going on her favorite ride - It's a Small World - with Grandma and cousin Carson. She could just stare at everything going on in that ride aaaaallll day.

She really, really wanted that popcorn.

Last but not least - she really likes when we make "Donald Duck noises" at her, so we had to get a picture with him! He couldn't talk though, so bummer.

So, in closing, I'd like to thank Dallin, my mom and siblings, Walt Disney, spring break, and the universe for making this trip (a) possible and (b) totally awesome.

Maddy is already begging to go back.

Is he the best?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: He insisted that I go with my family to Disneyland for the next three days. While that sounds like he might be trying to get rid of me (and, by association, the baby), I don't think that's the case. I think it's more likely that he knows I miss my laughing place and really want to go.

So thanks, babe.

Now, I have three hours to get myself and a 4 month old ready for Disneyland! Ready go.

Oh, and one more thing...as per Bekah's suggestion that I blog about this...

Daylight saving time is stupid. Stoo-pid. I've never even had to deal with it and I largely dislike it.

Daylight saving people, let me tell you something: YOU ARE NOT ACTUALLY SAVING DAYLIGHT. YOU ARE JUST TRICKING YOURSELVES INTO THINKING THAT YOU ARE. OR BEING TRICKED INTO THINKING THAT YOU ARE. DEPENDING ON HOW TRICKY YOU ARE. I REPEAT - YOU WOULD GET THE SAME AMOUNT OF DAYLIGHT IN A DAY NO MATTER WHAT TIME IT IS. TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION, AND THEN MOVE TO ARIZONA WHERE WE HAVE SOME SENSE. THIS MESSAGE WILL SELF DESTRUCT.

NO, I'M NOT SHOUTING AT YOU. THE CAPS SIGNIFY A ROBOTIC TONE.

Ok, I think I'm done. A-packing I go! Wish me luck!

Movies: the Famous, the Fantastic, and the Forgotten

Hello hello.

That's all the greeting I can muster up right now. I assure you, it was very heartfelt.

Just thought I'd clear my head of the thoughts that are bouncing around in there about some movies that we've watched recently. I promise to do my best to just get to the point on each one, since there are three of them and all...

"Valentine's Day"

I dubbed this one "the Famous" because, seriously, who isn't in this movie? I'll tell you who's not not in this movie: Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates, Hector Elizondo, Patrick Dempsey, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, Jennifer Gardner, Queen Latifah, Shirley Maclaine, and Jamie Foxx. Just to name a few.

I felt like this movie focused on all the wrong things and very few of the right. There are a million different stories going on and while they all tie together to some extent...there are some that you seriously could just care less about. The only story I loved involved Jennifer Gardner and Ashton Kutcher. Totally predictable, but they were such freakin' adorable characters I didn't care too much.

Bottom line: An over-advertised movie that falls short of the spectacularness you would expect from a movie with Julia Roberts in it. Poor Julia.

"Alice in Wonderland"

AKA "The Fantastic." Not in a "This movie was fantastic!" kind of way...but more of like a "This movie is about fantasy and 'fantastic' is the adjective to communicate that!" kind of way. Not that it wasn't good, because it was!

I thought the acting was pretty impressive. Alice (Mia Someone-I've-Never-Heard-Of) was great, and then with Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter (love her), and Anne Hathaway thrown into the mix, you've got pretty quality materials. It wasn't as funky as you'd expect from Tim Burton, but was definitely more twisted than the Disney version and had a darker feel to it than the book. Alice also wears some dresses that I would love to wear for maybe like a day...they have a whimsical punk rock-ness to them that I think is fun.

Bottom line: Not boring, not craaaaazy, good acting, and a mature-ish twist on a classic story. It was fun to watch and I think it's worth seeing.

"Beyond a Reasonable Doubt"

I hurt for this movie. Did you ever hear of it? Neither had I. But we rented it with some friends a few weeks back.

In this movie, a reporter gets suspicious that a DA is falsifying hard evidence in his cases. To prove it, he decides to incriminate himself in a murder with only circumstantial evidence and see if any "new evidence" turns up to convict him. As you might have guessed...things kinda go wrong.

Sounds like a pretty good story, right? I think so. But I guess they couldn't prove that beyond a reasonable doubt, because someone didn't give them the money they needed to make this movie halfway decent. Bad acting, a horrible soundtrack, and just general not-put-together-well-ness make this movie a true disappointment, and prove that a good plot doesn't always cut it.

Bottom line: Heartbreaker. If you can feel bad for movies, that is...

So...yeah. Glad to get those off my chest, get another blog post out into the wide wide world, and make my eyes tired so that I can hopefully fall asleep quickly tonight.

Anyone else seen any good movies lately?

Jammies

Madelyn is growing up.

Evidence: I had to buy her new jammies.

*sigh*

Good thing I totally love the jammies. That makes it a little easier to deal with.

I just think they're so cute!

Or maybe it's the baby. Even though she's been sick (cough, stuffy/runny nose, etc) she's still pretty much the cutest being in the land.

And speaking of...in case you didn't notice, I put a linky up in the top right corner to a contest I entered Maddy in. I know...embarrassing, right? But I figured since it was just a local, no big deal contest, done by a photographer whose maternity/newborn pictures I totally swooned over when I was pregnant, it might be justifiable. Just this once. She'd really just win some clothes and a couple pictures taken by the photographer. But hey, Mama would love it.

So, click here and vote for #8, if you haven't already. One vote per IP address. Oh, and if you're computer savvy and know some weird way to disguise your IP address or something, don't cheat. The lady running the contest sent us an e-mail this morning saying that they've caught people cheating. On the baby contest! I was totally shocked. I mean, seriously - do you really care that much?! I guess some Mamas do.

The AMAZING, the INCREDIBLE, the ASTOUNDING...

VALENTINE'S DAY MYLAR BALLOONS!!!
Ooooh! Aaaaah!

Ok so, I'm really no master at balloonery.

Although, I may or may not be in love with the word balloonery and just might have to become a master of balloonery so I can tell people that I am... and thus have infinitely more opportunities to use the word balloonery than I do now.

But anyway, MB (Master of Balloonery) or not, I don't think I've ever owned a balloon that lasted as long as these amazing, incredible, astounding Valentine's Day mylar balloons have! So even if it's completely normal for this kind of balloon to last this long, I've never had a longer lasting balloon, so therefore I can be totally amazed! Woot!

I mean, I was impressed yesterday (Sunday) when I woke up and they were still afloat and I realized that it had been exactly two weeks since Valentine's Day...

BUT THEN I realized that Dallin had given me these amazing, incredible, astounding Valentine's Day mylar balloons the day BEFORE Valentine's Day, and my mind was officially blown.

I mean, they're not even dwindling. They dwindle not.

I told Dallin he should have done one of those "I'll love you until the last one dies" kind of thing.

(In case you have no idea what I'm talking about...person gives sweetheart flowers with note saying "I'll love you until the last one dies." Sketchy...until you find out one of the flowers is fake. It's supposed to be cute or something.)

But then we had this whole discussion about how if the flower is fake, it couldn't really "die" anyway, because it was never really "alive," so it might not count, depending on how stingy and unromantic you want to be.

So Dallin said he'd love me a century for every day the balloons were still afloat. I took it, but I'm kind of regretting it now...because since we're going to be together for eternity, well... eternity divided by 100 years is still eternity (one of those weird math things), so either my balloons are amazing, incredible, astounding, ETERNAL balloons or...

it'll be a really long eternity after the first 2000 years.

Maybe I need to get me a helium tank.
